Wordpress Performance Optimization
Before optimizing and usually as part of the overall process it is highly recommended to upgrade the WordPress, template and add-ons to a recent version. If you have a website manager it is advisable that he do it, if not, don't worry, we will do it as part of the WordPress website maintenance services we offer.
After installing updates and bring the WordPress to an up-to-date version, we begin the process of optimizing your website. As with any other task, planning ahead is required before performing the task. As part of the site review, we check the template, which parts of it are used and which are not, go through all the installed plugins and check what are really in use and make a list of tasks to continue. One of the main tools we use along the way is the gtmetrix.com site which examines your website and gives a rating according to the findings. Depending on the results and the initial characterization we have done we are starting to work.
The following is a list of tasks to optimize your WordPress site:
Template optimization - Turn off unused CSS files, put css files loading order to prevent page creation waits, add code to determine HTML-level image size, and turn off unused options and add-ons at the template level.
Examines all Java Script and CSS code and merges it into a single file or a small number of files. minification of JS/CSS files to reduce their load time.
Perform images optimization - resolution/colors and physical size (preventing an image from being reduced in the browser).
Convert icons to sprites/css files to reduce server calls.
Install Litespeed's LS-CACHE plugin and initially configures it to handle page/post/object/db caching, connection to the memcached server if any, setting up JS/CSS minification/compression and many other small settings that improve performance depending on the different functions of the site.
We usually manage to bring the site to the A/A+ score after optimization work, depending on the quantity/quality of the plugins, the template and other intermediate management systems such as Elementor, etc.
