In addition, tapes are taken out from the DC on a monthly basis. Clients can choose to add a DRP instance in Europe/US that will be managed by us and coordinated with your main server.

What is a Virtual Private Server?

  • A virtal private server (or VPS) is a share of a real server, smartly devided and isolated from the rest of the clients by means of Virtualization Operating Systems. A VPS can be configured to have a disk quota, access a number of CPU cores and amount of RAM, either exclusively or shared resources. Each VPS has it's own operating system, control panel, IP address and network settings.

Which virtualization systems Webgate uses?

  • While we've been in the virtualization business for more than 2 decades and went through most of the systems, we are now offering service for Linux servers on our Proxmox system and for Windows servers we use a VMware ESX cluster.

Why would I want to invest in a VPS service instead of shared hosting?

  • There are many reasons why a private server beats the shared hosting. This starts with you - the webmaster or devOp. Do you want to have full root access to the server, install software, configure the machine the way YOU think it's right, choose the software your application or webiste runs under and the database engine? If you answer YES than a VPS solution is the best option for you. You can choose to have us maintain and manage your server or you can do it all by yourself and we'll never touch the server. It's your choice, and if budget permits, we diffinately advise going VPS for serious websites, commerce, business appliactions and security.

How can I transfer my site from another host to a VPS?

  • Your VPS has SSH or RDP by default. If you host more than one site on the server we strongly advise to use a contro panel like cPanel, Plesk or Direct Admin. If the host your coming from has a similar control panel, you can ask them for a full backup created by the control panel. This file can be imported using a similar control panel installed on your new server allowing you a smooth migration and getting you same usernames, passwords, DB names, email configurations, DNS on the new server exactly as they were on the previous one.
    We can also help you manually migrate a website, database or application from almost anywhere in the world, with proper access.
