We do Internet streaming for 20 years now and have experienced staff and optimized hardware for all your streaming needs. We can also setup dedicated, multi-server systems for large stations and broadcasting services.
Internet Radion Stations allows Webcasters to run a radio station on the web using Shoutcast or Icecast servers. These server side softwares convert regular mp3/wavs/Ogg files to streaming over the Internet, either on port 80 or other ports. Clients can listen to the radio stations using regular browsers, iTunes, Winamp and most of the cellular phones. There are many players that can be integrated in websites for easy listening. Radio stations can also stream LIVE feeds from studios using Winamp's Shoutcast plugin.
Lets start with the bad news. A good FM station broadcasting from CDs or lossless format WILL sound better than most web streaming services, even the HD services offered by Youtube, Spotify, etc. Good news are that most audience will be just fine with 128K-320K. Unless you know for sure your clients can accomodate large bandwidth we suggest 192K for most applications.
On shared accounts up to 100. On VPS or Dedicated machines it can go to 1000 listeners per server or more. Beyond that we recommend using a load balancer to devide traffic between several servers.
We provide AutoDJ bots which can be used to stream music hosted in your radio station account to the server. The AutoDJ can have schedule, playlists and setup news or advertising spots, much like a real radio station. You can build a full, 24/7 schedule with programs made of different playlists, invite DJs to connect and broadcast live and also record broadcasts to the server.
Absolutely. The shared accouts are great for hosting podcasts. We will never impose any advertising on paid hosting accounts nor mine the data in any way :)
